The scaly ones…

Download a printable A3 poster of the Snakes of the East Rand:
Snakes are probably one of the most feared animals around the globe.
From ancient times they have been associated with evil, through various religions and folklore.
Generation after generation has relayed stories, each with their own flair and tales added to spice up previous stories.
Presently, rural areas with little to no medical support available and in addition poor to access to proper support adds to the level of fear.
Living and working out in rural areas means that you eke out a living in an environment where a fellow villager has experienced loss of limb, or death due to snake bite.
Can it be overcome?
Of course it can. Education is key.
There are so many levels of knowledge that can be acquired.
Be it simple awareness, knowledge of your local snakes, i.e. basic identification, harmless vs. venomous vs. dangerous or a more advanced approach toward preventative measures, first aid and possibly even a handling course.
The choice is yours.
Conservation is your responsibility toward the next generation of what is on loan to you.
Conservation through Education
